Hello and welcome, fellow inmate. You hold in your hands the warden ledger, the sole written record denied in its entirety to our keepers. Within its pages, inmates past and present have recorded their thoughts, observations, feelings, and experiences on the various wardens present on the Barge during their tenure such that their fellows might be better informed and thus better armed in dealing with those who hold such power over our lives.

This ledger has been enchanted as such to ensure both usefulness and secrecy:

--It will not open except to one who knows a specific password, which can and will be reset frequently. If you have need, inquire with the inmate who has mastery over the speakeasy and they will be able to assist you.--
--It has been enchanted to resist movement from this solitary refuge.--
--Any who have opened it properly may write on its pages but none may remove pages or destroy the writing of others. They may only add to what has been written; the ledger has no allegiance to anyone's preferences, least of all mine. Keep that in mind when writing.--

I will endeavor to keep an index of all entries that one might easily find what one needs, either to read or to add. Please make sure, if possible, that you do not make a new entry for any warden and instead add to what entries already exist. As mentioned, editing this book is impossible.

Once you have finished, know that your words will live on and be read by others.

You may forgive, but a ledger never forgets.

Archer

Tall, broad-shouldered, and muscular with tanned skin and hair so pale as to seem white, though his face is not aged. Commonly wearing red.

Herr Archer is a steady, reasonable, and dependable warden. I have found him a useful resource and he has been a boon to me since my arrival. When he realized I was unaware of some of the more important cultural notes which are a part of life in this place, he took the time to inform me and to offer me assistance in being less obvious with my own gifts. He has proven trustworthy, open-minded, and willing to act while also being disinclined to get involved without good reason.

I would not advise attempting to trick him or deal with him dishonestly as he strikes me as the canny sort and one with a long memory. He does not brook fools gladly, and those with a more flippant manner of conversation have an even chance of amusing him or annoying him depending on your choices. He is not overly positive, however, about this place or about anyone here and gives his counsel thoughtfully and without excess cheer.

I would also consider him trustworthy, for whatever value that may have.

Dorian Gray

Handsome for a human. Tall. Blue hair, black eyes. Clean and tidy (a plus!)

Dorian Gray is someone who will break rank in order to do right by his inmate. He is clever and appreciative of those inmates underneath him. Moreover, he is courteous and he listens. Very attuned to the gossip around ship, and good at suggesting alternate routes to graduation. Will go out of his way if he likes you, so make yourself likeable.

He is currently (as of writing this on Barge Date 6-28-2023) the warden of Johann the Monster but has expressed in wardening me after, so I would like to stake a claim on him now. This means that if you try to cozy up to him after Johann's graduation, I will end your existence.

Seems to be someone either adored or reviled, and he doesn't give a shit which. Works out for him, which is great. He's very easy to get on with, especially if you like to drink or otherwise have hedonistic tendencies. Low pressure and gives no fucks about shit that doesn't matter.

Currently heads Food Inventory. Used to warden Trixie.

Trevor Belmont

Brown hair, blue eyes, muscular, with a scar over his left eye and clothing that will hold the mark of House Belmont. Sometimes smells, and often sounds grumpy and overworked. Always armed.

A graduated warden. Also a monster hunter, and yet not one that discriminates against monsters. Trevor will either get you what you need or find someone who can, and both offers and can provide protection if necessary. He is stubborn and grumpy and often drunk, but he is more likely to give to you than take from you. He can be trusted with secrets but don't expect a level head; if he has one, he stuffed it up his backside some time ago.

Hates the Admiral and will do all he can not to ask anything from him.

He burned down the chapel, but it should be noted that he did so during a flood which removed inhibitions and that he did so at least partially in defense of an inmate. For any who would not note it, he also worked to restore said chapel.

Gifts of food and of a practical nature are appreciated most of all, though he may fight you on it.

Neal Caffrey

Short dark hair, blue eyes, dresses largely more formally than most; cleanshaven. Of average size, though well-kept and tends towards a more charming air.

Zhang Qiling

Young-looking Chinese guy. Soft voice, intense aura, dense muscles. Wanders around with his black hood mostly pulled up.

A graduated warden. It should be noted that this book was first mentioned with any seriousness in a public discussion by him, though he graduated before the book was completed. Clever, canny, but forgiving. Spoke passionately for the rights of inmates here while an inmate himself, but given the lack of time passed, I cannot say if that will continue, though I do believe it will.

An excellent host, by all accounts. Somewhat cavalier with his life at times.

A graduated warden. Her people are called the sildroher, and she is largely aquatic. Provided healing utilizing singing magic to repair my hands after they were heavily damaged. Blunt and forthright.

Her main interest is in music; if you seek to offer her something, let it be music of some sort. Difficulty reading.

Ullanim is nice. She definitely did her best to help me out while we were temporarily paired. She's graduated and I think she really wants to help people get there too.

Somewhat ridiculous but significantly more reasonable than he lets on at the start. Enjoys spectacle, specifically with him at the heart, and while he speaks his mind, it's anyone's guess whether it is his whims or his genuine beliefs at any point.

You can utilize those he dislikes openly and frequently to tug him out from any well-dug holes he might be stubbornly remaining in. Merely mention they agree with him and he may consider another strategy.

Norton Folgate

Slim, shorter, with reddish brown hair and blue eyes. Dresses well, largely in suits though not always. Whatever it may be, it will look good on him.

A graduated warden. Social and friendly, but while he may be plainspoken I suspect that he has some skills in manipulation and you would do well not to underestimate him. Having seen him fight monsters, he's more capable than he lets on.

If you come from a world wherein same-gendered relationships are frowned upon or unspoken, he may surprise you or upset you as he is very plain spoken on his preferences. If that is something you need, you will find a supportive ear in him accordingly.

Kinder than one might expect, and clearly well informed.

Malcolm Bright

On the shorter side, impeccably groomed, and often wears suits of the style current in his world. Light brown hair, blue eyes, more physically able than appearances would suggest. Skilled with a sword.
